First State Auctions
STEP BY STEP AUCTION GUIDE

Step One: REGISTRATION
First State Auctions is open to the general public from 11am on the day of the auction.

Upon arrival please register with the First State Auctions staff at the Reception.
Please bring photo identification with you for this purpose, as it is a condition of entry.

The staff will then provide you with a Bidder Number, as well as an itemised catalogue listing the lots to be auctioned on the day.

Step Two: PROCEED TO THE VIEWING
The viewing runs from 11am, right the way through the day. This means that even while the auction is on, the cabinets will still be open for viewing.
The items to be auctioned are displayed in glass cabinets for easy viewing with professional First State Auctions staff members stationed at each of the cabinets to assist with customer service.

First State Auctions also provides qualified Diamond Graders Gemmologists to help you to make a more informed purchase.
The catalogue description of all lots sold at First State Auctions is guaranteed. In addition to this First State Auctions provides independent certifications for some of the pieces. These certificates are displayed at each of the cabinets for your perusal throughout the day.

Step Three: THE AUCTION
The auction begins at 1pm with the Auctioneer’s Introduction. At this time all of the cabinets are temporarily closed.

This is to allow the Auctioneer to fully explain the terms and conditions of the auction. He will also provide you with a little bit of information about the history that has built First State Auctions’ reputation worldwide.

The cabinets are then re-opened for viewing. And the auction begins.
The lots are auctioned in catalogue order, starting at Lot # 1 and running all the way through to the end. It takes a little under a minute for each piece, that’s approximately sixty pieces in an hour. The auction generally concludes in a little over three hours.

If for some reason you are unable to stay for the duration of the auction, First State Auctions offers customers the courtesy of placing a Maximum Bid or a Telephone Bid. Please ask the staff at Reception to assist you in this matter.

COLLECTIONS:

Once you have bid successfully on a piece, you proceed to the Invoicing Counter. First State Auctions accepts Visa, MasterCard and cash for ease of payment. Once payment has been made in full you can collect your piece immediately.
